Romance for Thomson alumnus Tania in Acapulco

Thomson alumnus finds romance in Acapulco.

A romantic story came in recently from 2004 press course participant Tania Lara Ortiz. Tania, who is aged 24, is a business reporter on the magazine Expansion .

We’ll let her tell the story in her own words…

“I know it’s been a long time since last I was in touch, but now is a special time. I am next to get married.

“Last weekend, my boyfriend (now my fiance) asked me to marry him. Here’s how he arranged it…”

“I was sent by my editor to write a special report on a new resort in Acapulco. She gave me the flight tickets and told me what she expected by way of coverage. She also told me she had made some appointments for me – the first was at a restaurant overlooking the beautiful bay.”

After waiting for a few minutes Tania’s ‘contact’ arrived. “It was my boyfriend Roberto!”

“I could not believe it and was speechless, it was a wonderful surprise.

“We had dinner (with a bottle of wine of course).  At the end, he presented me with a folder with the ‘new resort’ in it. It was all about our three years together. Then he gave me the engagement ring and asked me to marry him.

“I just started crying because I was so excited.” (She did manage to say ‘Yes’.

But the story doesn’t end yet!

Roberto had hired a very nice house in Acapulco just for the weekend and when Tania got there all the couple’s best friends were waiting for them – and the party started.

“Our wedding will be in May 2007”, she writes.

We all wish the young couple well…
