Course summary

With a reputation as one of the most prestigious and intensive television training courses of its kind, the Television Skills Programme is designed to test and expand the skills of professionals worldwide.

Building on the success of previous courses, and with alumni now occupying some of the top slots in television, this course is now being updated to include the next wave of cutting-edge technology. It is led by one of broadcasting’s most respected editors, producers and directors, Will Thorne.

The international dimension to Thomson Foundation training adds a dynamic perspective to the learning experience, as well as the chance to meet and be inspired by peers from other countries.

Who’s it for?

If you’re a dynamic television reporter or producer ready to take the next step on the editorial ladder, this course is for you. From day one, you’ll be thrown into a hard news cycle, competing with the established media and working alongside dedicated professionals from several countries.

You’ll be using the most advanced in digital broadcast cameras, studio, editing and graphics, and led by seasoned television professionals with an international reputation.

About the course leader

Will ThorneWill Thorne has over twenty years of experience working in national and international television news. At BBC Television News he gained extensive international experience working a field producer and director for  leading daily news programmes. This included senior editorial positions at both Newsnight and the flagship BBC 6′O’ Clock evening news.

Most recently he was the launch editor of More4 News – produced for Channel Four by ITN – a multi-skilled fully integrated digital news programme. For the past two years he held a senior editorial role on Channel Four News where he had particular responsibility for digital production skills and performance training as well as commissioning.
