Online

The UK Print and Broadcast Summer Courses each contain an online component.

Every major newspaper, radio and television company is now online, and even in the poorest towns and cities across the globe Internet cafes are providing a community focal point for spreading the news.

The basic skills have not changed with the advent of the Internet. But research suggests that visitors to a site take 25% longer to read a story on screen than on paper, so word economy, ease of scanning and story breaks matter in ways that do not arise in print and broadcasting. That means there is a need for different skills which include techniques to make screen reading easier, filming and editing skills for the web and and how to carry out effective internet research.

Other skills training offered in workshops:
  • Writing for the Web
  • Web Publishing
  • Digital Photography
  • Building a website
  • Blogging
  • Attracting Advertising
