
Africa Means Business brings together the media and financial sectors to raise standards of business reporting and develop deeper understanding of econmic issues.
This is a pan-African media initiative developed with local and international partners, including NairobiÕs African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), the African Media Initiative (AMI), the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE) at the University of Oxford, the Wincott Foundation and the Thomson Foundation. The project aims establish up to four Afrcia Means Business hubs within mainstream media organisations or at journalism schools. These will promote the development of finance, economic and business coverage across Africa by giving economists a greater understanding of media communications and journalists a more focused insight into business issues. With a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a pilot seminar was held in Nairobi, with partners including the Nation Media Group, the Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), the Nairobi Star newspaper, Kiss FM Radio Station, the Standard Media Group of East Africa and South AfricaÕs Rhodes University.
