Communications Manager

Sara is responsible for the creation, delivery and measurement of effective and engaging proposals, campaigns, publications and print and digital design concepts that support and promote the foundation and its brand identity efforts.

She provides quality creative direction for all visual materials that represent the organisation, designs, writes and delivers the yearly Thomson Foundation review (see the latest one here), has played an active and consistent part in all creative ideation phases for the foundation’s website relaunch and runs the prestigious Young Journalist Award.

Sara has almost two decades of editorial, publishing, digital media and graphic design experience. Before taking up residency at Thomson Foundation, she worked on an architecture documentary series for Al Jazeera English and was part of the editorial team at RIBA Journal, an award-winning monthly architecture magazine with an over 130-year history. She was also responsible for leading the ​successful relaunch of the magazine website,

Sara was the launch editor of three travel magazines which had a combined UK circulation of 90,000+ readers and was a freelance writer for luxury travel and lifestyle magazines including Condé Nast Traveller and Gulf Life, the monthly bilingual in-flight magazine for Gulf Air.

Sara holds a First Class BSc Honours degree in Human Sciences (Social Anthropology, Philosophy and Psychology) and Communications and was the proud recipient of a medal for outstanding academic achievement at London’s Brunel University. 

She has also received publishing, journalism and digital media training with PMA Media Training, part of the Press Association. She is fluent in English and Urdu and has knowledge of Arabic and Farsi and is currently learning Turkish.
