Understanding rights to access information for investigative journalists in Rwanda

A course combining e-learning, workshops and a study tour designed to encourage Rwandan investigative journalists to access information by exploiting the country's Freedom of Information Act. Investigative journalist Ewen Macaskill, formerly with the UK based Guardian Media Group, was among the speakers at the workshop in the Rwandan capital Kigali attended by nine of the country's leading journalists. The course immediately led to an increase in the number of journalists requesting information from government bodies.
