Data Journalism

Pamela works with the data projects team at the UK's leading media organisation, The Guardian Media Group, analysing and decoding data for news stories and interactive features.

She admits to having a (perhaps unhealthy) love for Excel and can usually be found at her desk poring over spreadsheets, wrestling non-machine readable PDFs into a usable format, scraping and SQLing.

She frequently uses the Freedom of Information Act to source stories. Her work includes front-pages on hundreds of mental health patients who died following NHS care failures, the paucity of ethnic diversity among Britain’s most powerful elite and analysis showing asylum seekers are disproportionately sent to poor parts of the UK

Pamela's work with the Thomson Foundation includes training journalists attending our annual multimedia summer course.
