Defending freedom of expression and supporting free speech

Words can hurt. As part of an EU-funded project, reporters in Lebanon have been given training on how to tackle news coverage of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) issues that ensures fairer coverage. The training programme focused on media coverage of critical social issues and, amongst other issues, also examined corruption and consumer rights.
