Sander is a professor of social psychology in society at the University of Cambridge and Director of the Cambridge Social Decision-Making Lab.
An expert in disinformation and how people are influenced by it, Sander is the consultant on Thomson’s free e-learning course: Rethinking Disinformation: psychology, prebunking and other tactics to halt the spread, available on our Journalism Now platform. He was a key speaker at a Thomson Talks event held at the Cambridge Disinformation Summit in 2025 which brought together political, academic, tech and media leaders.
Sander co-developed the fake news game, Bad News, aimed at building psychological resistance to disinformation and regularly advises governments and tech companies on the issue.
